Kato Kiyomasa was a name I hadn't heard before I went to Kumamoto. I wish I had known of him earlier because I became a big fan of his after reading a little about him.

Not only did he build one of the most-fortified castles in Kumamoto Castle, but more impressively to me, he built an irrigation channel in a river that filtered the silt from the Aso volcanoes - hanagurri-ide.

I think you can get them in the same stores where you can get religious clothes.

Kato Kiyomasa was a devout Buddhist, so maybe that was something monks used to wear.
