Meme

July 23, 2008

I don't even know how to pronounce the title and I've never done one of these. A "meme", pronounced /miːm/, is basically something that gets passed around on the Internet. You follow the rules and then you "tag" someone else and ask them to do the same.

I was tagged by Loisue at Living in Seychelles and here are the rules:
1. List the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

  1. I first came to Japan when I was 19. that was the first time I had ever been abroad and stayed that way until I was 21 and went to England. Strangely, Canada was number 3. I haven't been to Mexico yet.
  2. I'm blood type O negative. I didn't even know what blood type I was until I came to Japan. I was asked so many times that I finally went to a hospital and paid $30 to find out. I tried to just give blood, but I was rejected because I couldn't read the safety sheet by myself. I was told to be careful and not get hurt because it's a rare blood type here.
  3. Since moving to Sendai I have started cooking and I am getting pretty good, although I don't enjoy it all that much. I wouldn't have to cook, if my wife would.
  4. I enjoy walking. I like just wandering around and seeing things I don't usually see. I also prefer walking to taking the bus or subway most of the time, but I'm usually running late which presents problems.
  5. I tried Brazilian jujitsu while living in Tokyo. I wanted to get back into aikido, which I did during my study abroad trip in college. My head would hurt when I got home, and I decided that I wasn't cut out for it.
  6. I don't usually sleep past 8:00 a.m. Well, I go to bed pretty early.
  7. I use the word "pretty" too much.
I'm tagging http://www.asianramblings.com/, http://www.sevententotokyo.com, http://jdonuts.com, http://urutoranohihi.blogspot.com/, http://www.singaporeaninlondon.blogspot.com/, http://toshogu.blogspot.com/, http://learnjapanese.today.com

I think it's pronounced meem, rhymes with team. Or so I'm told.

Brazilian jujitsu? Is that like Italian enchiladas or something? Never knew there was such a thing.

I think I could learn a lot from you. Pretty good list!

Well, I guess that I chose a good profession when I became a teacher then, huh?

Brazilian Jujitsu (jujutsu? I've heard both) is like judo. Think mixed martial arts or ultimate fighting ... there are a lot of those guys doing that.

Pretty good facts of your life.
But choice of people to tag is pretty crappy (that's only applicable for the no 4 in your list to tag) :D
I'm gonna take a own pretty sweet time to answer. Hehehe
I like pretty too!

I'm gonna have to take the cheezy way out and link up the list I created last month at my home site. The rules for that one had 8 facts so you can ignore the last one if you like.

I tagged mostly to give link love. I don't expect anyone to answer if they don't want to. :9

Its funny that you mention traveling and having type o negative. I too have type o- and when I went to donate blood this past fall I was rejected because of living abroad when I was a child. My parents were in the airforce so we traveled a lot and because of that I am on the Red Cross permanent donor ban list. Pretty sure 20 years later I would know if I had something they should worry about. Oh well.

Thank you for this honor. I will get to work on this right away.

@ Josh: Another reason for being rejected was for being to England within the previous XX years.

@ tornadoes28: Looking forward to it.
